Complete Genome Sequence of Bacteroides ovatus V975
The complete genome sequence of Bacteroides ovatus V975 was determined. The genome consists of a single circular chromosome of 6,475,296 bp containing five rRNA operons, 68 tRNA genes, and 4,959 coding genes.
متن کاملThe effect of photosensitizer on diclofenac photodegradation under simulated sunlight.
This paper studies the effect of photosensitizer (acetone, H(2)O(2), surfactant and pigment) on photodegradation of diclofenac (DCF) under simulated sunlight. The results demonstrate that degradation pathways proceed via pseudo first-order kinetics in all cases. The photodegradation rate was found to increase with increasing acetone and H(2)O(2). Surfactant and pigment inhibited the photodegrad...
متن کاملDifferentiation of Bacteroides ovatus and Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron by means of bacteriophage.
Two members of the Bacteroides fragilis group, B. ovatus and B. thetaiotaomicron, are difficult to distinguish by biochemical methods. They are currently identified on the basis of their variable ability to ferment salicin. We studied a method of identification for these two species by using cell lysis by bacteriophages. A total of 38 bacteriophages were used to distinguish the two species. Ide...
متن کاملEvaluation of xylan fermentation for the identification of Bacteroides ovatus and Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron.
The reliability of xylan fermentation in distinguishing Bacteroides ovatus from Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron was examined with strains previously identified by DNA homology studies or bacteriophage sensitivity testing or both. All of the 12 B. ovatus strains produced acid ranging from pH 5.0 to 5.6 in peptone-yeast-xylan broth; none of the 19 B. thetaiotaomicron strains produced acid, and the f...
متن کاملRoles of Saccharomyces cerevisiae DNA polymerases Poleta and Polzeta in response to irradiation by simulated sunlight.
Sunlight causes lesions in DNA that if unrepaired and inaccurately replicated by DNA polymerases yield mutations that result in skin cancer in humans. Two enzymes involved in translesion synthesis (TLS) of UV-induced photolesions are DNA polymerase eta (Poleta) and polymerase zeta (Polzeta), encoded by the RAD30A and REV3 genes, respectively. Previous studies have investigated the TLS roles of ...
